Just a quick note to announce another project that I recently started. It's my webcomic called, the Process and you can go check it out here. There's also a blog with all the latest pages as well as all sorts of extra information including unused artwork, press coverage, notes etc. The blog is also where I encourage readers to leave their comments and their thoughts. Things have been moving along at a splendid pace. Issue two has been released (as of last week), and we can't wait to hear what you think. Not sure if you want to drop the coin? Well...

Things are heating up as we move towards next weekend's big debut of Volume Two at the New York Comic Con.

Volume Two Update!
The much anticipated second issue of Borrowed Time is off to the printers, and things should be heating up significantly over the next month or two. New information will show up here as it becomes available, but in the meantime here's what we know for sure:

- The book will be released at the end of February (possibly very early March). We don't have an exact date yet, but this timeframe is locked. What's more, if you plan on attending this year's New York Comic Con -- taking place at the Javits Center in Manhattan on February 23-25 -- the book will officially be "launched" there. Copies will be available for purchase, and both Joe and I will be on hand to sign, shake hands, have good conversation, and generally hang out and enjoy ourselves. We look forward to seeing you there.

And if we're not incentive enough, there will also be an Oni-related appearance by none other than Stephen Colbert himself.

- In the meantime, there are a ton of preview pages available at Joe's website (that's page 44 up on the left). I highly recommend checking them out. Joe just keeps getting better and better.

- I've written up the summary for issue 3, and I'm hard at work on the script. Barring any odd circumstances that book will be out later this year, with less time between them this go-round.

Sorry it's been so long between updates, folks, but every series goes through doldrums like that. We've all been plugging away at volume two, and I'm proud to announce that the book has been solicited and should be out in February! With any luck, we're going to coincide the release with the New York Comic Con, which happens the weekend of the 23rd.

This space will be getting gradually more active in the coming months (along with the website and Myspace page), and we'll be providing plenty of free samples along the way. Thanks for your interest -- you will be rewarded.

Eh, what the hell. Here's what it said:

I hadn't read "comic books" or graphic novels or whatever they are called now since I was a kid. Superheros don't really do anything for me, and the few graphic treatments of literature I'd read seemed forced.

But then a friend recommended this slim volume, and I bought it here on Amazon.

I was very surprised - the expressive b&w art and the very original story are seamlessly complementary, and I was glued to it all the way through. It's a slightly surreal - but also, at the same time, very realistic - story, and while I don't want to give anything away, if you're a fan of LOST or unexplained natural phenomena or things like that I think you'll get a kick out of it.

I am anxiously awaiting the next issue!

In addition to attending SPX (as mentioned below), I'm also planning to drop by the Baltimore Comic Con. It's my hometown Con, and a lot of good folks are setting up shop. Also, it's the new home of the Harvey Awards. Should be a fun show.

I like to check the Amazon sales rankings for my books every now and then, just to see. I'm vain that way. And while I know that a graphic novel is likely never going to make it into rarified air, it genuinely makes me feel good that this book seems to consistently avoid dropping off into the abyss. People are picking it up. How many I don't know, but it doesn't so much matter. I am grateful for each and every one of you.

Volume Two is progressing nicely. We'll be posting sketches, artwork, designs, and maybe even script pages as we work our way up to a planned December or January release date. Also stay tuned for some surprises along the way.

Many, many thanks to everyone who stopped by to say hello during the San Diego Comic Con. Even more thanks to those of you who were kind enough to pick up a book and/or a t-shirt. I sold quite a few of the latter, and in the next few days I'll take an inventory of what's left and post it here. Suffice to say that if you're interested in getting one you'd be wise to act quickly. While we will be doing similarly interesting things with future issues, there will be no reprints of these shirts.

Volume two is on the way, so stay tuned.

Piggybacking off what Joe said, here's the lowdown on my convention whereabouts:

I'll have an as-yet-undetermined number of appearances at the Oni booth - I'd imagine it will be three, no less than two, maybe four. I'll post that schedule when I have it. I'll also be making a home at table number E 10 with Chip and Nye from Left on Mission and Revenge. I might be there a whole lot and I might be there hardly at all, but I will be there.

I'm thinking of having some fancy goodies for sale in addition to the books and t-shirts. If I do, you'll hear it here first.

I'd also like to bring to everybody's attention that I will be at San Diego's Comicon starting July 19th. I will be doing double duty between the Oni booth and the Caveman Robot table #1221. No matter where you will find me, though, I am happy to share some conversation, laughs, and hand shakes (no joy buzzers please!). I will also have a new full color mini comic called Mandala, that will be available for the first time at SDCC. See you there!

In other news, I recently got my very own BT-shirt and I have to say that I am totally in love with it! Kudos to Tony and Neal for making this happen. As somebody who is not normally fashionably inclined, this shirt is a real boost to my wardrobe and I having been wearing it almost ceaselessly since I got it (while staying within the bounds of good hygiene). I encourage everybody who may be a T-shirt graphic fetishist, a burgeoning fashionista or a regular guy who just enjoys a cool looking Tee like myself to get your very own. You will not be disappointed.

Apologies for the lack of recent updates -- I've been busy and/or out of town. In light of that, here's the latest:

*Most of the reviews for volume one are probably already in (and, I might add, mostly positive), but I did find one more of note: Chris Allen of Comic Book Galaxy has kind words to offer, and you can read them by clicking here.

*Tony Larson and I will be doing a signing/meet-and-greet at the esteemed LA comic shop Secret Headquarters on Wednesday, July 19th. We'll have books and t-shirts for sale, and the general atmosphere will be congenial as all hell. Make a point to come out if you're in the area.

*Following that, both Joe Infurnari and I will be present, in various forms, at the San Diego Comic Con. I'll be there Thursday evening (July 20th) through Sunday morning (July 23rd). I'll have some table space as well as a handful of signings at the Oni Press booth. Stop the hell by.

Aside from all of that, progress is being made on volume two. We're still targeting a December release, which means that you can hopefully count on us to satisfy the graphic needs of everyone on your Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa list(s).

I've been telling you for weeks now that this day would come, and now it finally has: the t-shirts are available!

I finally got around to updating the "friends" section in the sidebar, but I want to point out that it is not yet comprehensive. I'll add more as they come to me, and as part of that process I want to encourage anyone who wants a spot to go ahead and email me with a request. I can't promise I'll add everybody, but odds are good.

The t-shirts have been shipped to me, and I anticipate having them available for sale late next week. If you've already emailed about them I'll be getting in touch. If not, make sure to stay tuned for the info.

The June 3rd release party is official. Our friends in the band Plans Plans are headlining, along with Bo Lee Da and Johnny Beverly 1989. Once the live music is finished, DJ Sweet Potato will carry us to the wee hours with an intoxicating blend of top-quality tracks from the past and present. All the while we'll have books, t-shirts, and posters for sale, and good times and camaraderie everywhere you turn. Bring a friend, get your drink on, talk to me about the book, see and hear some good bands. It's one event you don't want to miss.

Reviews continue to pop up here and there...

Allan Muenzler at Randomville likes it, and delivers a very thoughtful analysis.

Johnny Bacardi gives it a B+, and also shouts out to fellow Oni books Past Lies (featuring my friend and past collaborator Chris Mitten) and The Leading Man.

While you await information about t-shirt and poster availability, I have some more news: the Saturday, June 3rd release party is confirmed.

The venue is the Supreme Imperial in downtown Baltimore, MD. We will have three, possibly four bands and two top-notch DJs. The lineup is not quite set, but as soon as it is I'll let you know. Save the date.

The book has been out for five days now, and I want to say thanks to everybody who's picked up a copy so far. Extra special thanks to those of you who have checked in and let us know what you think. For the rest of you, track down a copy and don't be shy. We aren't dangerous people.

It's official! Borrowed Time will be available at comic shops this Wednesday! So head on down to the local shop and pick up a copy! If your favorite retailer doesn't carry Borrowed Time, please request that they order a few. And once you've read it, don't be shy to let us know what you think. In case Neal hasn't already encouraged you enough, I want to chime in and say how much you, the reader, matter!
